AI Excellence: Colleagues Claim Third Place Victory
11 January 2024
In an impressive testament to their innovation and expertise, two of our colleagues, Boris Idesman and Eiad Rostom, proudly secured third place in the n8n AI LangChain Contest. Their remarkable achievement showcased their skills in harnessing the power of AI to tackle real-world challenges. Boris, our Head of Marketing Intelligence & Automation, has been part of the company for more than two years, and Eiad recently joined the team as a Python Developer.
Guided by the contest's mission to solve intricate problems using the AI LangChain feature, they delved into the complex realm of predicting the success of online campaigns - a task demanding sharp analysis, creativity, and a keen understanding of data dynamics. We asked Boris and Eiad to share their insights into the idea generation and development process in their own words.
We were drawn to the contest as it challenged us to harness the power of AI in new and exciting ways. Our participation was fueled by a blend of curiosity and eagerness to enhance our capabilities in building AI-driven applications that could redefine the efficiency of our marketing efforts. Our goal was to craft marketing solutions that leveraged the latest in technological advancements, all while enjoying the rush of bringing our innovative ideas to life.
The contest challenged participants to tackle real-world issues by leveraging two tools: n8n, an automation tool for workflow creation, and Langchain, a dynamic programming library designed to facilitate the development of AI-powered applications. The combination allows users to solve and automate a large variety of tasks, including, in this case, the analysis of marketing campaign results, providing marketers with smart recommendations.
Participants were presented with four problems and tasked with using the AI LangChain feature in their workflow. Judging criteria revolved around the impact and relevance of the addressed problem, the efficiency of the proposed solution, and the adeptness displayed in the integration of the AI LangChain feature. Our problem was to predict the success of online marketing campaigns based on historical data and AI analysis, and we were given access to the OpenAI API, n8n, and the below dataset with each campaign’s performance.
The Implementation Process
After analyzing the performance data, we used ChatGPT to categorize the success of each campaign and then vectorized the enriched dataset for storage in a memory vector store. This process made the data readily available for context-rich interactions with Q&A models. We then moved on to summarize campaign performance, crafting actionable recommendations to boost each campaign's effectiveness and pinpoint areas for potential improvement. Simultaneously, we utilized a Langchain Agent, integrating web search into ChatGPT to fetch a list of countries where specific platforms were banned. This critical information guided campaign launches, ensuring they avoided inaccessible platforms in target countries.
Utilizing these insights, we crafted a final campaign performance analysis, complete with recommended actions for each campaign. This thorough analysis clarified each campaign's performance and provided actionable recommendations for improvement.
In the last phase, we developed a Q&A Agent with access to the campaign analysis data stored within the memory vector store. This innovation aimed to extract deeper insights by enabling queries that expanded beyond the confines of the base analysis - for instance, “Would a campaign called “xyz” be successful when launched on Facebook in Austria?”
The collaborative effort and the thrill of tackling novel challenges were incredibly rewarding. Immersing ourselves in a marketing challenge not only added excitement but also highlighted how these insights seamlessly apply to our work at AUTO1 Group. This experience has been a rich learning ground, deepening our understanding of AI and the art of building practical applications. These newfound insights will undoubtedly pave the way for innovative solutions and advancements in our endeavors at the company.
Congratulations again to both Boris and Eiad for their achievement. We are committed to nurturing talent and fostering innovation within AUTO1 Group by supporting opportunities for growth and development. Explore our open positions and join the team by visiting our careers page.
